Individual psychotherapy

The aim of psychotherapy is to improve the mental state of a person and to make his/her way of behaving, thinking and experiencing more adaptable.
In the context of psychotherapy, help in the following areas is offered:

  • current problems in personal and professional life
  • problems in a relationship
  • problems in contacts with other people
  • depressed mood, depression
  • anxiety and neurotic symptoms
  • stress-related problems
  • problems associated with loss (separation, death of a close person)
  • adaptive problems
  • professional burnout
  • low self-esteem
Psychotherapy is conducted in a psychodynamic paradigm, which focuses on the unconscious processes manifesting themselves in the actual behaviour of a person. The most important aspects of psychodynamic psychotherapy are self-awareness and understanding of the influence of past events on current behaviour. This approach allows to examine unresolved conflicts and symptoms resulting from past dysfunctional relationships. A diagnosis of the problems is formed together with the person throughout the whole period of the therapeutic process.
Psychotherapy is offered in two forms:

  • insight therapy, the aim of which is to resolve internal conflicts, remove some of the defence mechanisms and reduce symptoms.
  • supportive therapy, the aim of which is to regain emotional balance, reduce fear and anxiety and adapt to the events of everyday life.

At the beginning of a therapy it is not possible to determine when it will end; this process can last from several months to several years. Therapy sessions for one person are held once a week (in special cases it may be 2 times per week), always at the same time and last 50 minutes each.
